It’s encouraging to see not only that people are drawn to these events, but that local authorities get behind it too. Swell Homes is recognised as an industry leader in this field, and more than happy to lend our experience. Here’s a snapshot of some of what we covered at this event.
Being an accredited Green Smart builder, we’re keen to point out that the Housing Industry Association has some excellent resources on sustainable design for home owners on their website, including an easy-to-follow brochure.
There’s also an excellent government site supporting the green home sector called “Living Greener” which is packed with useful information about sustainable living.
Within their site there’s a very useful section on building and renovating for energy efficiency. Click on the image at left to go straight there.
Universal Design is an interesting adjunct to green homes. It’s about forward-thinking with your planning to accommodate circumstances you may not have considered yet, such as future renovation work. The HIA has a cheat-sheet on their website. Further research online will untap a whole world of useful tips on best practice on home design.
